Kieyana Thomas, APC

My passion is with working with children and teens that struggle with behavioral concerns such as angry outbursts, acting out behaviors, being bullied (or bullying others) and mother/child conflicts. Teens are often faced with the stress and overwhelm of peer pressure, self-esteem problems, managing and regulating their misunderstood emotions, partner abuse, goal setting, career planning and making the transition into college and ‘adulting’.

I strongly believe that every person deserves to live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. Within all of us, there is a capacity for awareness, change, and healing. Through compassion, collaboration and guidance, I assist my clients in understanding and changing their maladaptive behaviors so they can lead happier and healthier lives. I use a combination of trauma-focused, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and strength-based therapy.

During my time studying in Heredia, Costa Rica my cultural awareness, sensitivity and competency to customs and cultural practices when working with people of color and marginalized groups was enhanced. Through my international work, I learned that our trials and hardships are what shape us and create the story of our lives. Despite the challenges that life brings we can soar above our greatest hurdles. Together we can work through the storms of life and create a world of possibility. I believe that each one of us is the author of our life and I will assist you in writing the story you desire.

In 2016, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I graduated from Mercer University in May 2019 with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I hold my Associate Professional License (APC) which allows me to practice in a therapeutic setting in preparation for full licensure. I have a National Certified Counselor Certification (NCC) that identifies counselors who have met national standards set by the counseling profession. Additionally,

I incorporate traditional therapy as well as mindfulness and energy work into our sessions. My integrative approach focusing on the mind, body, and spirit including meditative practices and imagery work as powerful helping tools. My credentials as a Reiki Master (RMT) enhances my work and increases my clients’ own abilities to heal.

I am accepting new clients and welcome the opportunity to empower you in your healing journey through counseling, coaching or Reiki.

As I work toward my full licensure and beyond, I will work under clinical supervision to ensure quality care to my clients. Currently, I do not accept health insurance, therefore, I am offering affordable  prices for therapy, Reiki and coaching services.
Please call or email today to schedule your affordable session with me.
